Had a cocktail party at the studio for some clients and friends. We decorated the studio and built a cool little holiday bar and a photo booth. The photo booth was a big hit! It was awesome to get to see some great friends and colleagues that haven't been to the studio yet. Here are some selects from the booth...enjoy!
2350 Studios in Ferndale, our new home is nearly finished. More to come.
For the summer shoot for Carhartt, they decided to use Michigan for our state to feature. We only had a week to shoot so we decided to stay in the Lower Peninsula. Matt did a great job finding hard working people that were stoked about being a part of Carhartt ads. We had Goetz bring the Simba moho all the way from Cali, packed it up with all our clothes and headed out.
As usual, we got to work with some amazing people and see the beauty in our home state. We circumvented the whole Lower Peninsula with the moho and our crew trucks. Brian Bennett and Ron Harper were the creatives behind the project. They are always up for standing in for lighting tests while our subjects are getting "all Carhartted up". It was a great trip and an awesome time in our great state.
We landed the 2014 Silverado HD launch campaign with Leo Burnett. Bruno Hohmann was the creative director on the project. Bruno came to me with a challenge to create high-resolution panoramic rig shots for the project.
My solution was to synchronize three Hasselblad 60 megapixel cameras. The images would then be stitched together in post-production. The tough part was getting three of everything lens-wise along with keeping the files in order so they would be matched with the corresponding images from the same exposure. Keeping the files straight was handled by Josh Nagy (digital technician), the perfect guy for the job. We created some awesome rig images on that shoot and got our stitching down to an art. Bruno was happy and so was the client!
One of the images was a rig shot where the cameras were cantilevered out over a cliff. It was a little nerve wracking sending out over $150k worth of Hasselblads out over the edge but exciting at the same time.
The crew all did an awesome job to help me make this one happen! Thanks team.
